In the fall of 2002, I needed to travel more than 150 miles along a little-known river in a remote part of the Ecuadorian rainforest. I approached several guides, but only one, Cary Kanoy of Core Expeditions, was willing to take on the challenge. The two-week trek, in which we traveled by dugout canoe, went off without a hitch. It was memorable in all the ways I could have hoped, and most amazing of all, even in the deepest recesses of the jungle, we ate well every night. - Robert Whitaker, Author, The Mapmaker’s Wife, Cambridge, MA
