Summer Bilingual Adventure Expedition for Teens
Thomasville, NC, January 9, 2004 – Core Expeditions is offering a summer bilingual adventure camp for high school age students. Students from the United States will team up with Ecuadorian high school students for two weeks to explore the famous Avenue of the Volcanoes in the Andes and the cloud forests of Mindo-Nambillo Reserve, whose biodiversity rivals that of the Amazon Basin. Activities will include camping, hiking, rafting, orienteering, mountaineering, team building games, rappelling and a visit to the largest Indian market in South America, Otavalo.
The idea of the program is to place students in an environment where they are exposed to a different culture and interact daily with Ecuadorians. The goal is to develop a better understanding of foreign cultures, nurture a desire to learn a foreign language, develop communication and leadership skills and generate a genuine appreciation for the outdoors and conservation practices, and most importantly, to have fun.
Core Expeditions has been working with Ecuadorian high school students for the past two years introducing experiential education to the students and their parents. Outdoor recreation as a format to build leadership skills and self-confidence is fairly new to Ecuadorian culture. This summer Core Expeditions will add the bicultural element to the format introducing Ecuadorian students to American students.
There are a minimum number of spaces available, 15 American students per session. Parents can meet Core Expeditions at the following Camp Fairs: Camp Expo 2004 in Alpharetta, GA on January 24, 2004, Summer Camp Adventure 2004 in Nashville Tennesse on January 31, 2004 and the Charlotte Parent Summer Camp and Activity Fair in Charlotte, NC February 8, 2004.
Core Expeditions is offering two sessions: July 10-25, 2004 and August 7-22, 2004. For more information, call 336.329.8112, e-mail us at info@coreexpeditions.com or visit us at our web site www.coreexpeditions.com
