Our medical programs began initially as EMT-based outreach and training program because of our close relationship with Landmark Learning who specializes in emergency medical and outdoor trainings. As a result, we have cultivated a strong network of specialized guides/instructors and nonprofit organizations. As a result, we have developed programs such as Relief Medic and MedCore.
The goal of these programs is to provide much needed medical services to poor rural communities in Ecuador through an existing infrastructure of nonprofit organizations such as CEMOPLAF. As well, participants receive continuing medical education and foreign language immersion. Everyone benefits in this model - participant, clinic patients (local communities) and nonprofit organizations. These programs essentially help pay the costs of running these outreach clinics.
